Cooper has come out of Cooper's Cave after all these years — just like he did in the 1700s. So maybe, just maybe… baseball started right here in Glens Falls, N.Y., with a dragon tossing baseballs out of a cave.

The legend

Local lore says baseballs were being tossed out of Cooper's Cave in Glens Falls all the way back in the early 1700s — long before Cooperstown ever claimed the title. Maybe Doubleday got the credit. Maybe baseball got started right here. We'll let you be the judge.

What we know for sure: Cooper the Dragon has come out of the cave after all these years. Now he tosses baseballs to kids in the stands at East Field instead — same arm, different century.
