01The History

A field with a past, in the heart of the Adirondacks.

East Field opened in 1980 and mattered from the first pitch. It was built for the Glens Falls White Sox, a Double-A club in the Chicago chain, and for years it was a regular stop for prospects climbing toward the majors.

The Detroit Tigers came next. Then the Redbirds, the independent Adirondack Lumberjacks, and the collegiate Golden Eagles each took their turn under the lights. In 2015 the Dragons moved in, brought wood bats and the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League with them, and made Dix Avenue a summer-night destination all over again.
