Thirteen Wins, Two Giants, and a .406 Summer: The 2026 Season in Review

The Glens Falls Dragons finished the 2026 season 13-28, sixth in the seven-team East Division, across 41 games that opened May 30 at East Field against Saugerties and closed July 26 at Cantine Field. They scored 228 runs and allowed 377, going 7-13 at home and 6-15 on the road. That is the ledger. It is not the season.

Here is the number that is: 5-2. That is what this team did in one-run games, and seven of its thirteen wins came by two runs or fewer. Whatever else the Dragons were in 2026, they were not easy to finish off.

Amsterdam went 34-6 and had the best record in the league. Two of those six losses belong to Glens Falls. On June 9 the Dragons won 8-7 in Amsterdam. On July 12 they did it again at East Field, 10-8. The Dragons also took season series from two clubs, beating Oneonta four times in six tries and Boonville four times in six.

The best stretch of the summer ran June 12 through June 16 — three straight wins, each a different kind. A 7-2 road handling of Oneonta. A 12-11 survival at Utica. Then the loudest night of the year: 20-4 over Boonville on June 16, the season high in runs and one of six double-digit scoring games.

Tyler Worth hit .406. In 96 at-bats he piled up 39 hits, drove in 25, and finished at .496 on base and .510 slugging — the best bat on the roster, and he did it in 29 games. His signature night came July 9 at Saugerties: 4-for-5, five runs driven in, a 9-8 win.

Around him, the lineup had its own arguments to make. Giorgio Pantepinto played 39 of the 41 games and led the club in hits (32), runs (24) and stolen bases (15). Taye Robinson scored 28 runs, stole 16 bags and drew 22 walks. Rene Vega walked 30 times and reached base at a .442 clip. David Yorke supplied the power — three home runs, seven doubles, and a six-RBI night on June 15. Tyler McKillop drove in 19 and worked 22 walks. Derek Diaz collected 21 hits and closed his summer with a 3-for-4, four-RBI night on July 25.

On the mound, Colin Richardson was the steadiest thing the Dragons owned: a 2.73 ERA over 33 innings with 32 strikeouts, a 1.18 WHIP and a 3-1 record. On June 23 he went all nine against Oneonta, gave up two runs, struck out eight and won 3-2 — the complete game of the season. Dominick Weidtman led the entire PGCBL in saves with five. And the first win of the year, June 1 at Damaschke Field, belonged to Paden Mather, who threw five hitless innings of relief and struck out eight.

One more line, and no box score carries it: thank you. 2026 was the first season of all of it — the new logo, the new colors, and this website you are reading right now — and the fans who came out to East Field, followed the road games, and read every one of these reports made it more than 41 dates on a schedule. The season is over. The fire is not. See you next summer.
