See all of Smoke’s reports →The Dragons built an 8-3 lead and survived a four-run Amsterdam eighth for an 8-7 win at Shuttleworth Park on Tuesday night, snapping a four-game losing streak and climbing to 2-6. Anthony Lino reached base four times — 2-for-2 with two walks, a double, a two-run homer, three runs and three RBI — and Tyler McKillop's three-run blast in the fourth blew the game open. Dominick Weidtman got the last five outs for the save.
Glens Falls broke a scoreless tie in the fourth: Lino doubled down the left-field line to score Tyler Worth, then McKillop homered to left for a 4-0 lead. Amsterdam answered on Brian Carrothers' two-run homer in the fifth, but the Dragons pushed it to 6-2 in the sixth on Brady Fandl's RBI groundout and Enrique Diaz scoring on a wild pitch. Lino's two-run shot to left-center in the eighth made it 8-3. The Mohawks rallied for four in the bottom of the eighth — Anthony DeCesare's two-run double and Jordan Perry's two-run single cut it to 8-7 — but stranded the tying run. Tyler Worth reached three times atop the order on a single and two walks.
Billy Kind earned the win with four scoreless innings, scattering two hits and three walks. Paden Mather was tagged for all seven Amsterdam runs over 3.1 innings before Weidtman slammed the door with 1.2 scoreless for the save. Glens Falls returns home to East Field on Wednesday to host the Oneonta Outlaws.
