See all of Smoke’s reports →The Dragons turned a tie game into a laugher, pounding out 13 hits and drawing 19 walks in a 20-4 seven-inning run-rule win over the Boonville Lumberjacks on Tuesday at East Field. Glens Falls climbed to 5-7, scoring in all six of its turns at bat and breaking the game open with a nine-run sixth. Colin Richardson went six strong for the win, and Hunter Fales led the offense with a 3-for-4 night.
Boonville actually pulled even at 4-4 in the third, Masai Marshall lacing a two-run triple after Elijah Negron's RBI single in the second. The Dragons answered immediately with a five-run bottom of the third — Jack Ploppert's two-run single and Rene Vega's bases-loaded walk doing the early damage for a 9-4 cushion. From there it was a parade to the plate. Fales finished with two RBI and three runs, Vega and Giorgio Pantepinto each drove in three (mostly on free passes), and Alex Kerr's two-run single keyed the nine-run sixth that pushed it to 19-4. Pantepinto reached base five times. Boonville's staff, led by losing pitcher Garrett Albright (10 runs, 10 walks in three innings), simply could not find the zone.
Richardson scattered eight hits over six innings, allowing four runs with seven strikeouts, before Kyle Fives closed with a scoreless seventh. The Dragons hit the road Thursday to face the Amsterdam Mohawks.
