See all of Smoke’s reports →The Saugerties Stallions sent 13 men to the plate and plated nine runs in the sixth inning, turning a one-run deficit into a rout in a 15-7 win at East Field on Friday. Glens Falls had grabbed a 5-4 lead into the frame, but Christian Bernanardini's three-run triple and back-to-back homers from Magnus Krieger and Nick Croce blew it open. The loss dropped the Dragons to 13-22.
Bernanardini did the heavy lifting for Saugerties, finishing 2-for-5 with five RBI. Croce homered, walked three times and scored twice, Krieger added a two-run shot, and Jack Beyl went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Cooper Schmidt crossed the plate three times. The Dragons swung out to an early lead on Jack Ploppert's two-run homer in the first and Giorgio Pantepinto's two-run single, then nudged ahead 5-4 when Ploppert scored on a wild pitch in the fifth. Alex Mravlia went 2-for-5 with an RBI, Taye Robinson added two hits, and Derek Diaz doubled home a run in the sixth.
Ryan Mayer earned the win with three innings of two-run ball. Frederick Bornn took the loss for Glens Falls. Caleb Nelson was a lone bright spot from the pen, striking out four over two hitless frames. The Dragons return home to host the Oneonta Outlaws on Monday.
