Thirteen Runs and a Title

The Batavia Muckdogs are the 2026 PGCBL champions, and they never made it interesting. Batavia scored in five separate innings, piled up thirteen runs on thirteen hits, and beat the Utica Blue Sox 13-1 to close out a perfect three-game run through the bracket. Utica had outscored Saugerties and Amsterdam by a combined 15-5 to get here. It managed one run and three errors.

Jackson Inman did the heaviest damage: 2-for-3, three RBI, two runs, two walks, an RBI single in the third and a two-run double in the sixth. Cooper Romich drove in two, a sacrifice fly in the second and a double in the eighth. Braedon Reina reached three times and scored three. Jalen David doubled twice. The fourth inning was where it turned — David doubled home a run, Reina singled one in, and Glenn Brooks added a sacrifice fly for a 7-0 lead. Batavia tacked on four more in the sixth, one of them on a wild pitch. Kevin Francella's single that same inning was Utica's only run. Michael Flashner went 3-for-5.

Gavin Chandler took the win, 5 1/3 innings on 85 pitches, five strikeouts, one earned run. Garrett Beaver and Eric Woodley finished it without giving up a thing. Michael Furst wore the loss. The Dragons watched this one from home, 13-28 and sixth in the East. Next summer starts in June.
