Amsterdam pounded out 23 hits and scored in seven of nine innings, and the Dragons couldn't dig out of an early hole in a 17-13 slugfest at East Field on Sunday. Glens Falls actually out-walked its way back into the game — drawing 11 free passes — and pulled within 15-13 in the seventh, but the Mohawks tacked on two in the ninth, dropping the Dragons to 7-14.

Amsterdam set the tone fast, scoring twice in the first and blowing it open with a four-run third for a 9-1 lead. Gabriel Rivera was a one-man wrecking crew, going 5-for-6 with five runs scored and a home run, while Tyler Correa piled up five hits and Zack Johnson drove in four. Evan Taylor also homered. Glens Falls answered in waves: Giorgio Pantepinto went 3-for-5 with three RBI, including a two-run double in a five-run seventh, and Enrique Diaz reached base five times and scored three runs. Tyler Worth knocked in three and Brady Fandl chipped in a two-run double as the Dragons clawed back.

Frederick Bornn took the loss after a rough 2 1/3 innings, charged with eight runs and a pair of home runs. Ronan Rowe steadied things with two strong frames in relief. The Dragons hit the road Monday to face the Utica Blue Sox.
