Glens Falls scratched out a 2-0 lead on a pair of sacrifice flies, then watched the bats go cold and the defense unravel in a 5-2 loss at Utica's Donovan Stadium on Monday. The Dragons managed just two hits all night, and the Blue Sox answered with two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to send Glens Falls to a second straight defeat, dropping to 7-15.

The Dragons built their lead without a run-scoring hit. Tyler Worth's sacrifice fly in the third plated Rene Vega, and Anthony Lino's sac fly in the fourth brought home Taye Robinson for a 2-0 edge. But Glens Falls collected only two hits — singles from Jack Ploppert and Robinson — and four errors proved costly. Utica chipped back in the fifth on Ethan Madison's RBI single and a Conor McCartney sacrifice fly, then grabbed the lead for good in the sixth: Jack Sweeney's RBI single made it 3-2, another run crossed on a Dragons error, and a Justin Levine groundout capped the rally. Sweeney went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Xavier Smith added two hits.

RJ Ensel took the loss, charged with five runs over five innings with four walks. The bullpen steadied things — Tad D'Andrea and Alex Kerr combined for three scoreless frames — but the offense went quiet against winner Johnny Amato and closer Joey Kafka. The Dragons stay on the road Tuesday to face the Amsterdam Mohawks.
